Meet Dr. Joe
Dr. Joseph Wnek is excited and honored for Wnek Family Orthodontics to carry on the excellence and tradition of Dr. Brian Eberhart.
Dr. Joe was born in Chicago, IL. He attended high school at one of Chicago's oldest, Catholic schools, Saint Patrick High School (Chicago, IL) and graduated from Maine South High School (Park Ridge, IL).
Dr. Joe can be considered a Hoosier by common law, given that he attended Indiana University for both his undergraduate and dental degrees. He graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Indiana University—Bloomington, followed by his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Indiana University School of Dentistry. He then returned to Chicago where he practiced general dentistry in private practice for more than five years before deciding to pursue his dream of becoming an orthodontist. Dr. Joe spent three years in Manhattan at New York University, where he completed his residency and obtained his specialty certificate in Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics. While at NYU, he completed research on non-pharmaceutical interventions for accelerating orthodontic tooth movement.
Dr. Joe and his wife Kristen, have 3 young sons: Joey, Dominick and Vinny. He loves spending time with his family, and enjoys traveling and sports. Every summer he sails with family, joining over 350 other sailboats, in the Race to Mackinac Island from Chicago. He is a fan of the Hoosiers, Bears, White Sox, Bulls and Blackhawks... and he has admittedly jumped on the Irish bandwagon living and working so close to Notre Dame!
Dr. Joe is active in organized dentistry. He maintains membership in the American Association of Orthodontists, the Great Lakes Association of Orthodontists, the Indiana Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the Indiana Dental Association, the North Central Dental Society, the Mishawaka Dental Society and the Chicago Dental Society. He is also board-eligible for the American Board of Orthodontics. Dr. Joe constantly strives for excellence and continued learning participating in educational opportunities on an almost weekly basis.
